Lucy's Adventures in Life

Kurunda

We fit so much into today. We started off going on the Kurunda heritage railway up the rainforest covered mountains over scary bridges and past terrifying drops. Kate didn't stop smiling the whole journey. Half way there was a rest stop near a beautiful set of waterfalls and next to giant cliff. I stayed in the train. I didn't want the edge creeping up on me.

We then got to explore the village of Kurunda and its various markets which unfortunately turned out to all be either overpriced or just tourist tat.

After this we got to the part I was looking forward to the most. We boarded a ducw (duck!) amphibious ex army vehicle and were both driven and boated around the rainforest whilst a helpful guide explained all the various plants that could kill/poison/cause great pain. Since it was raining we didn't see any animals but we also avoided being eaten by mosquitos so that was all right.

Our journey back down the mountain was on the skyrail cablecar and was yet again filled with heights based fear. The view was amazing though the fog had set in a bit and it was tipping it down when we got to the midway point where you could get off to have a walk around the forest floor and learn what all the trees were. Luckily they had a pile of umbrellas so we managed to avoid the drowned rat look.
