MONO MONDAY: Foggy Top

I was able to catch this rare hazy fog in Reno today. I was downtown again, walking beside the river. The clouds were fairly thick and there was just this foggy haze over everything. I looked up at one of the houses on the bluff and saw this mist just hanging over the top of the house. I fired off five bracketed shots to come up with this photo. I merged it using HDR Efex, then applied Silver Efex for the b&w. I then added a pale yellow filter to add warm to the shot.

I wanted to remind any and all who are interested that this Wednesday we are starting the new March Wednesday Portrait Challenge. I added this to the Forum under Challenges.

Here's what I posted in the Challenge forum:

In an effort to develop greater skill with taking portraits of people, and to borrow on an idea that Paladian had for Mono Monday's, several of us thought it would be good to have a Wednesday Portrait Challenge. Each Wednesday through March, each participant will take a portrait of a person, which can either be a candid portrait or staged portrait.

Everyone is invited to participate.

For some of us, our true challenge may be taking a photo of a stranger. But who you take a photo of will be up to you. The portrait can be in color, or monochromatic. It can be classic or eclectic. For those of you who take a lot of portraits, please challenge yourself with a new technique or processing.

For those new to challenges (i.e. Me!), here are the guidelines:

1). Please tag your entries WEDNESDAY PORTRAITS.

2). Copy the web address for your entry.

3). Go to Forums, and click on March's Wednesday Portrait Challenge.

4). Once you are in the Challenge forum, please click on "Add a link". Then paste in the web address for your entry that you copied in 2). above.

5). Enter a description of your entry in the pop up box.

If you are going to include the person's name, please only include their first name.

Let me know if you have questions. I look forward to seeing your photos!

So, I've never done this before and would ask you to be patient with me.

I hope that you can join us. It should be fun!
