The Glamour Of My Job
I know all you non-airline friends think I probably have one of the most glamorous jobs, especially getting to stay in all sorts of swanky hotels. Well, this is my view today out of my very typical hotel room. Thankfully, there's been quite a bit of snow today to brighten up the view!
Actually, this IS a very nice hotel, but we typically have to occupy the rooms with the least desirable view or location. Since airlines pay rock bottom prices for the rooms for their crews, it's not surprising that the hotel would put us in a room with a view like this.
It snowed for several hours in DC today. There was a significant amount, but not enough to almost shut down the city, which it did. After yesterday's problems with my iPhone, I spent most of the morning trying to resolve it. After no success, I decided I had to make the trek to an Apple Store. Actually, I spent FOUR hours getting back and forth to two different ones. BOTH closed due to the snow. Now I normally LOVE the Apple customer service, but I really wasn't too impressed with this! At the mall, many stores were open, and although others were also closed, I kind of expected Apple to be there through thick and thin. When I went to the store in Georgetown, I had to walk quite a way in the snow and almost every store in that area was closed. Georgetown is very pretty in the snow and I would have loved to take some pictures, but my phone was still in a coma. Not only do I no longer carry my camera, my intent is to blip my entire year's worth of pictures from my iPhone.
When I got back to the hotel, I finally got my phone to work, although I have lost everything on it. I think I will be able to restore it later, but for now it isn't recognising my iTunes or iCloud ID. I really will need some Apple help with this, but at least for now I have a functioning phone - and camera!! And I was finally able to take a blipfoto for today. Not very pretty, but this view has been a big part of my day.
I want to call that monstrosity 'Fido'. What do you think??
Back to the UK on a late flight tonight. Thankfully, I am 'deadheading' as a passenger, not a working crew-member, and I have a very nice Business-Class, lay-flat-bed/seat (yes, that part is definitely glamorous!), so I hope to get lots of sleep. I have a busy day tomorrow!
