The Annat Burn
This is one of a series of seven substantial structures on the Annat Burn. Standing on the walkway and looking up or downstream is not dissimilar to the impression gained at nearby Neptune’s Staircase.
I am basing the following on anecdotal evidence but the series of dams created a combined very large volume of water. While until recently this was the source of Corpach’s water I was told that ships stationed nearby had the facility to top up very quickly with fresh water from this source.
All Lochaber water is now abstracted from the flood plains at Camesky, treated centrally and pumped all over the area; Bohuntin to Ballachulish.
Shortly the same section of river will be put to use again for renewable energy.
This was a relatively short site day project for us and when I came home Stob Coire na Ceannain was sparkling down over Roy Bridge. I blip this view too often but I put a few on here if you want a quick look:
Ever changing Stob Coire na Ceannain
