Gems from the sea
Very high tides (see yesterday's blip) mean very low tides too! Guernsey has a delicacy known as ormers. These shellfish are found by digging in the sand and looking under rocks at the lowest tides of the year. The gathering of them is strictly controlled and the smallest must be put back.
I'd like to say that I collected these myself....however, I found a "hedge-veg" stall selling the shells for 20p each. A bargain I think, for something so beautiful.
