Barceloneta clock tower
Between 1792 and 1797, Mr. Pierre François Andé Méchain carried out studies to measure the meridian arc between Dunkirk and Barcelona, which were undertaken to establish a new measure of length, the meter.
The reference he used in Barcelona was this clock, built in 1772. Initially, the clock was used as a lighthouse in the port of Barcelona, but it passed to history with Méchain mesurements.
