Spontaneous! Effulgent!

Is it just me, or do we tend to be less spontaneous when we grow older? I'm getting far too obsessed with advance planning, whether working out where public toilets will crop up along my journey or what would be the most comfortable outfit! So bless the butler, who suddenly noticed the sunlight and announced that we would dust off our senior railcards and head for the fas east in search of some national art (I suppose if you're the capital city you get to chuck the word 'national' around at every opportunity!)

Before 11.00 we were having coffee and scone at the National Modern 2, before touring the Fergusson exhibition, which was really beautiful. Obviously no pics, so next best thing was a shot of the ladies loos! Enjoy!

A free bus to the Mound and then the opportunity to gawp like a tourist and utter the words "Look! A tram!" . A wander about; agreement with the butler that we were each allowed to say a maximum of two positive things about Edinburgh without damaging our street cred. ; looking out to the Forth from North Bridge and remembering Edinburgh has a river too; a nice wee Italian restaurant on the Royal Mile for some lunch; the delivering of a mini- lecture to a woman who saw me rub David Hume's toe and said "I live in Edinburgh and I have no idea who he is. Is he important ?"; lots of photographs which I've taken before and so deleted when I got home. And then home to read the Fergusson catalogue and relive the exhibited paintings.

I am effulgent, like the women in JDF's paintings. Wish I could try on some of their hats.
