The Pollock Beech
Had a walk with my sister this afternoon around Pollock Park in Glasgow. Took lots of shots of ducks, crows, and the Weir but the Pollock Beech won the day as my blip! It is about 250 years old and stands where the second castle of the estate built around 1270 and inhabited by the Maxwell family for about 300 years stood before it fell into disrepair. Sir John Stirling Maxwell was a keen horticulturlist and collector exotic plants, and is responsible for many of the trees and plants in the estate and gardens today. We have been lucky with the weather today - bright sunshine only now and again clouding over.
