I could not possibly tackle these new iconic buildings of Singapore. I think this a task for a very creative architect.
So instead, over lunch at Raffles I sketched a part of one of the entrances. I enjoyed both the lunch and doing the sketch.
But - In talking to one of the waiters afterwards, I was told that this part was occupied by the Japanese during the last war, as a prison camp. This sketch is dedicated to all those that may have suffered during that time. We owe our fortunate lives to their sacrifices.
