Cacti and Chocolates
Today we started our day by driving around near Lake Las Vegas. This is a lake in the middle of a group of developments, created by damming up the Las Vegas River. It is all new, built starting eight years ago. It seems quite strange to me. There is a mock up of the Ponte Vechio and buildings in mock Italian style. I took pictures but none that I felt needed to be shared. I call them record shots.
We went home and ate left overs for lunch. Then we headed to the Ethel M chocolate company to meet Emmett, Jennifer, Bailey and Madden at their huge cactus garden. This photo is of some of the cacti in the garden. After walking around for awhile we went inside and I bought a large box of chocolates to share. The M in Ethel M stands for Mars. This is now the only factory for the Mars company's (think M&Ms and snickers) gourmet line of chocolates. The company was started in Tacoma, WA which I didn't know. Small world department. I had a great time picking out 48 pieces for the box I bought. We've already sampled some of them.
Right now we are taking a break before heading over to the kids' house. We are stopping at the market to pick up some shrimp and veggies for dinner on the way. Then we are all going to watch the Oscars together. It will probably be our last evening there as we plan to go to the Strip for our last evening in the area. It will be our first visit there. Helena hasn't ever seen it so we figured a night visit was in order.
We are having a great time here. Tomorrow is our last day. We head home Tuesday early.
