Frozen
This is the coldest winter that we have seen since moving to Southern Ontario almost 16 years ago. I am glad that we have been in Amsterdam for most of it!
Normally at this time of year the snow cover over the green grass at our home has disappeared and the leaves of the irises in the sunny South garden next to the warmth of the house are starting to reach out of the earth. This year, however, everything is buried under several feet of snow and there are no signs of melting anytime soon.
We went to the Bike Show at Exhibition Place today, which was unfortunately rather disappointing. However, we were rewarded for our effort with the views of Lake Ontario as we drove to the venue along the Lakeshore. So, on the way home from the show we took a break from the drive to admire the view.
The Sunnyside Boardwalk runs along Humber Bay. We stopped at the area near Sir Casimir Gzowski Park. I was surprised to see the "ice-falls" along the breakwall and shoreline. There were also chunks of ice in the water outside the breakwall. Very pretty, but I hope the ice is gone next time I pass that way.
