Sweet Treats
We stayed overnight last night in Montuaban, just north of Toulouse, in a former 17th century abbey. After a good breakfast, we set off at 10am, ready for the 8 hour drive back to calais. This gorgeous little typically French boulangerie was situated on the outskirts of town and we stopped to buy a few provisions to keep us going on the drive.
The rest of the day was pretty uneventful as we stuck to the motorways and the scenery through the middle of France is no where near as beautiful compared to that of yesterday! We stopped a few times during the journey, but mainly at motorway services to swap over driving and stretch our legs. However we did have to stop for another reason. As I was head down, typing up the description for yesterday's blip, I was oblivious to the fact that mum was doing 160kmph and had just been caught by a Gendarme hidden by the side of the road. We were quickly followed by flashing blue lights, told to pull over and issued with a 90euro fine. Then we were sent on our way, just like that. Interesting that many other French drivers were doing the same speed but we were the ones who got caught.
We reached Calais by 7.45pm and arrived home around 9pm. After travelling for just over 1,700 miles over the course of the last three days, my head is certainly ready to hit the pillow.
