One Step at a Time

Trent Bridge

No, sorry, not the famous Cricket Ground but I wanted you to share some of my disappointment.

This IS the River Trent and that is, erm, a bridge. The disappointment stems from the fact that I have been passing this spot for a few months now. It is at the junction of the A34 and A51 near Stone in Staffordshire and you get a fleeting glimpse of the water as you negotiate the island. I had conjured up an idyllic scene of a babbling water course lazily making it's way past a country pub. Lot's of flowers and birdlife and maybe the occasional gaily decorated water craft.

Today the timing was just right as I left the office illuminated by the beginnings of a beautiful early Spring sunset so I headed down this spot.

In actual fact, the river is going through at a hundred miles an hour in a slight culvert and is fenced off to prevent the Smartie fuelled clientèle of the adjacent Wacky House from drowning. Also, the car park is in quite a dip so none of the sunset was visible.

One the plus side, I can stop worrying about paying this spot and visit and concentrate on other things.
