at last.....
....i'm finally caught up with Blips! well apart from the odd couple of days still to upload (all pics are there!) I've not given up on blip, just had lots on, plus needed a bit of a re-focus.
so thought, new month, new ideas etc...hope i can keep it going!! it has been over 2 years, and i've taken at least one photo every single day!
doing a mini theme on the town where i live. Initially i thought about street names, but that's proving difficult to get the origins of a particular street name. Eastwood has loads that are names....Lawrence (obvious!) Avenue, Percy Street, Edward Road, Lynn Croft (!!). So am starting with a street name close to me, and as influential over Eastwood, not as much as DH Lawrence, but nearly there.....
The Barber family....along with the Walker family, were the owners of the Barber Walker Coal Company, that ran the Moorgreen Colliery. As we know, Lady Barber still resides locally, on a vast estate, stretching to the edge of the former pit site. So, hence thats why this street, is named after the Barbers. The Barbers even get a mention or two in some of DH Lawrences books!....maybe that's why Lady B isn't very keen on talking about him! Plus Moorgreen Pit was evident is 'Sons and Lovers', as Minton Colliery.
Back to Saturday. Started a 5 week wedding photography course at Notts Trent Uni...slightly disappointed after day 1, but hoping the remaining weeks will be more inspiring!
back home, picked Pete up from mum, and the curry night....along with a nice glass or two of Rioja
