Open to the elements

We did a considerable amount of driving today, calling at Ullapool for diesel, then north to Durness for our picnic lunch. Incredibly, it was too warm to wear a coat as we sat on the river bank.
Sutherland is the least inhabited part of the UK, which is probably why it appeals to me so much.

We carried on further north to Scourie then Tongue, which is where this lonely house was photographed. It is also where we turned south for Lairg, Dingwall and finally Gairloch.

I forget how lovely it is to smell slow cooked beef from the crock pot when you open the door.
