Goodbye Magellan

My old boy, Magellan died during the early hours of this morning. After having him in our lives for almost 15 years it's hard to imagine life without his funny little ways. I'm so grateful I was able to hold him close as he died and indeed to have known such a courageous, gracious soul.
It rained today after weeks of relentless heat and wind, almost as if the weather was weeping for Magellan too. About 10mins after the rain started a whole flock of these little birds, weavers I think, came to visit.
