Soup dragon

I managed to get out in the garden yesterday and did a wee bit more today. My bulbs are progressing very slowly, maybe because they are new, and there are loads of weeds. Problem is nothing has stopped growing over the winter. No sign of the potentilla growing though. I didn't get in to the garden until April last year so I have no idea how far it should be. But I will have to do something about The Tree.

But all that was late morning. Earlier I'd bounded crawled out of bed to go for a swim to find #2 son had gone off with the car last night, so no swim. Plan B - housework, including cleaning the bath and washing the kitchen floor. Neither my favourite task.

After the gardening I spoke to #1 son and d in law for over 35 minutes. All going well there. I should start a countdown - it's 25.5 weeks to go (I think).
But only 6 weeks till I'm there.

As the sun disappeared and the clouds and rain returned it was an afternoon of soup making. I bought some cheap parsnips on Friday - so it was varieties of parsnip soup. A few years ago I asked for, and was given, the Covent Garden Soup book. Today it was Caramelised Veg, New Year Root Veg (with red chilli and cumin, a definite kick) and Maple parsnips. It all smells lovely. Hope I can find room in the freezer for all of it.

Now the usual Sunday evening on the sofa, in the chair with tv and a glass. And reading up about Kuching in Lonely Planet.

It has been quite a good week-end. I've really missed getting my hands dirty in the soil. Good to be back.
