All for Charity
An early bout of exercise for me in the halls of the happy endorphin seekers, was rewarded by tea and toast in the café by the canal. It seemed as though there was a popular café culture this morning as we were joined by a plethora of holiday makers and hen parties.
What His Lordship and I wondered as we genteelly sipped our tea and read the café's newspapers, was when did it became acceptable for young parents to allow their young children to dominate the floor space and air waves by running up and down, unhindered in their antisocial behaviour.
When I was a child, had I done the same thing my parents would have administered a cautionary smack, or another adult would have put out a restraining hand and stopped me in my tracks.
Not so today, we are frightened to intervene, pretending it's not happening but grumbling all the while about the inconsiderate younger generation.
'Children should be seen and not heard' is a phrase out of print.
You can tell that my happy endorphins were on the ebb at this point.
We got home to find the Meadows Marathon and Half Marathon about to start -14 times round the Meadows for the Marathon and 7 times for the Half; the boredom threshold will be quite low unless they can do some crocus counting as they go.
My blip is of a group of girls walking the route for the charity Water Aid.
This is an international charity trying to provide access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation to the world's poorest communities.
