Snow
Out the window of my studio. We made one cold trip out this morning in the boat to get gas -( so we're prepared to use generator if need be) but this is Saturday: Prince Igor by Borodin on the sat. opera from the Met on the radio. Never heard this -it's sort of Wagnerian, but one couldn't not think of what's happening in Russia right now. It's not uplifting.
It started to snow late afternoon- don't think there will be much, but grabbed a chance to blip it. And I loved my day even tho I don't have much to show for it. It took Borodin 18 years to write Prince Igor and then it wasn't finished when he died in 1887. He was a chemist and a composer and a champion of women's rights and only worked on the opera in his summer breaks- not ideal for the creative process...so it was finished by others ( Rinski-Korsakov for one) and all productions are different.
