nooks and crannies
One if my favorite things about Bellingham is the way growth and beauty coexist alongside desolation and decay...an abandoned building between the railroad tracks and the bay with plant matter growing in the shape of a heart. There's a metaphor in there somewhere. In certain moods, I want to go out and explore all the vacant houses, uncover everything haunted and secret about this place. In other moods I want to paint the city green with everything alive, emblazon my self portrait in vines and moss and flowers on every wall. I haven't done any of this yet...it's more about glimpsing neat little details like this one out of the corner of my eye. At any rate, I'm glad there is plenty here to notice.
