Open mike

Went to nos 2 and 3 daughters' school last night to set up for the PTA comedy night. A very entertaining evening, with Jenny Beake providing the music and laughs, Toby Brown delivering with youthful zest, the great Tim Renkow demanding attention, Nico Yearwood eloquently hilarious on the subject of rum, and headline Julian Deane breaking off from texting and tweeting just long enough to round the evening off nicely. Alan Sellers did a fine compere job, too.

A brave choice by the PTA, since none of the acts toned down the swears on account of performing in a primary school. Highlight of the evening was when the deputy head was drawn up on stage to be gently ridiculed. Surprised at the acts' depth of ignorance of all the wonders of New Malden (not...)
