The Weight of Expectation

Snowing lightly this morning. Took a chance and went to Balsam Branch - was well worth it. And we were the only skiers there! We happened to bump into the chap who maintains the trails though, busy on the job, getting ready for the weekend. It was nice that we could thank him for all the hard work he has done this season. Turns out that the storm from last Thursday/Friday and the recent winds did a serious amount of damage - several trees down along the trail and a lot of cleaning up required. Only the inner trails had been done, so we kept to those (about 5K).

The trees in the picture are bent from the heavy burden of the recent snow. Most of it has blown off now, but it may take them a little time to recover.

Beer, pizza and pool this evening. I suck at pool, but I sank my first ever 8-ball tonight (not counting accidents of course!)
