Putting things into practice
Having done my dry stone walling course last Saturday, today was the day to put any skills I might have learnt into practice.
At the front of the house, there is a tumble-down attempt at a wall that I suspect the sea has eaten away at over the years. With the sea washing it at high tides I fear it might not be an ideal project to start with but heigh-ho.
"Start again" was the message from Neil and so that is precisely what I did for a 10 metre stretch of that wall. Rain and hail interrupted play for a while and then even more significantly high tide stopped play altogether for the day
Whilst not a pretty image, hopefully you can see the end of stage 1 on the left - remove the old wall - and the start of stage 2 on the right - ensure you have a solid base. I am vaguely dreading seeing what has happened tomorrow morning by which the sea will have had two goes at it!
