Planes, Trains and Automobiles...
But less of the trains and automobiles.
Spent a second day discussing oceanic airspace optimisation. Honestly, it is fascinating! If you think what they do in F1 on a Sunday afternoon, working out where to slot into pit stop gaps to come out at just the right time into traffic. Then double that from 2D to 4D and turn 20 cars into 500 aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean, and you're starting to get a handle on the maths.
Maybe we should turn our attention to F1 instead, more glamerous and more money?
Some of the newer aircraft are incredibly fuel efficient. They fly to incredibly tight tolerances. For example, the new 787 Dreamliner is flown to within 0.01Mach of its optimum speed for fuel efficiency.
(0.01Mach = 6.5mph at 36,000ft...we always measure aircraft speed in Mach numbers across the ocean).
K nipped over to the office after radiotherapy as we wanted to head and get a new sofa for the old dining room. We've decided to have a bit of a home makeover before Christmas. A few new windows, the last of the artex plastered over, and the halls and bedrooms decorated. K had seen something on-line, so we swung past DFS. Would you believe our luck! They had a half price sale on!!!!
Well...its competition day today! I'm heading off in the morning. I'll give you a clue, no-one guessed it last time.. There are LOADS of clues in the picture. I'll be disappointed if no-one gets it. If you have a barcode scanner and a copy of IATA resolution 792, you should be able to work it out.
Good luck!
