Looking to the future

This bronze sculpture on Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay was made by John Clinch in 1993 and celebrates ordinary people who lived and worked in Tiger Bay, as it was.

I realise that the way I've photographed it makes it look as if the woman is tweaking the man's ear, rather than pointing out across the bay and to the future, as I understand the sculptor intended!!

I was in Cardiff at a rehearsal for an exciting new opera by Errollyn Wallen. No, I'm not in it, sadly; I'm writing about it.
