Lights up North

I wasn't looking forward to my Blip post today. Another day where inspiration was in short supply. Perhaps I spent too long buried in spreadsheets. Still, a local tearoom which I like on Facebook (never been) are keen Aurora watchers and they had posted possible activity. Perhaps a chance later? Then the radio reports the Northern Lights being seen in Essex - that's not north!!

I drag myself away from the spreadsheets and wonder outside. Wonder back in and switch all the lights off so that I could see. There in the sky were the dancing lights. I've been lucky to see them a few times (the last time with Heliflier) but these were the best yet. Now where did I put that tripod. Box in loft. Now where is the adaptor plate? Should have kept it in the tripod. Got it. Cable release somewhere else. Finally get out and snap away. It's the first time I've tried to capture the magic of the Aurora Borealis. I spent a happy hour or so trying all sorts until I flattened both my batteries and lost feeling in my toes. Well worth it.
