Star Wars

Bruce and I went to see Black Angel at the GFT tonight. Black Angel was made in 1980 by Roger Christian, Academy Award winner for set decoration on Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (which I saw at Leicester Sq Odeon in 1977) . He went on to make episode VI Return of the Jedi and Episode I The a Phantom Menace, and loads of other films including Alien, Life of Brian and Battlefield Earth.

He made Black Angel to accompany Star Wars V and it had not been shown for 30 odd years because the two original positives were lost. However a couple of years ago the negative was found and a restored version made, which we watched tonight.

Black Angel was only shown in the UK, Scandics and Australia along with The Empire Strikes Back.

Roger Christian was really interesting, so modest and all round good guy
