Part-Time Garden
This view shows a section of the River Niger that, when the dry season approaches, becomes uncovered due to the recession of the water. The banks are then accessible to the local population who use the time they are exposed to plant crops. The ground has been well watered and is very fertile, so the plants grow quickly. In August, when the rainy season reappears, the river will flood this slope and they will have to wait a few months before they can start all over again. No perennials here!
