The Bovine and the Feline

This evening I went over to the paddock with last seasons calves in it, and my cat Smudge followed me, meowing all the way. Smudge loves coming for walks on the farm, and investigating the various paddocks, seeing what he can find.

Tonight Smudge stopped in the alleyway by the calves, and started rolling in the dusty dirt on the ground. The calves, being very inquisitive, came over to see what it was that was wriggling around on the ground.

We desperately need some rain. The hot temperatures have dried up the paddocks, making the grass very golden and crunchy. One more day of summer left, so hopefully autumn will bring the cooler dump weather that we need.
