Lovely Lolita Loves Lettuce!

I'm looking after Lolita
She loves lettuce.

Lolita was found in the back of a London taxi cab after a pick up from Heathrow Airport. She was just a bit bigger than a 50 pence piece.

She was taken by the driver to the RSPCA who checked her out and then re-homed her with my friend a local Veterinary nurse.

It is illegal to import tortoises from any country. Lolita probably came from southern Spain - that's where the woman in the taxi had flown from - The driver had noticed the woman adjusting her bra before getting out of the taxi!!

Lolita is about 7 years old now and about the size of a saucer. She lives indoors during the winter with heat lamps to keep her active as she is not yet big enough to survive the hibernation process. In the summer she has an outdoor house and a large enclosure.

Incidentally Lolita is a he not a she - I guess he took her own Walk on the Wild Side - in the opposite direction!
