Family Affair
This morning I went outside to pick some tomatoes for my lunch. A couple were split open so I threw them onto the grass for the birds - thinking of sparrows and blackbirds. But instead a brown thing dashed out of the hedge and picked one up.
I was pleased to see my weka back as I hadn't seen him for a few days. Then out of the hedge popped 3 more - Mum and the twins. Babies!!
So excited!
I sneaked back inside for my camera, then back outside again, being careful not to upset them. But I think I could have run screaming and they wouldn't have cared. Dad was giving them lessons on how to dissect a tomato. They were having a wonderful time, pretending to listen to his instructions, then doing it their own way.
They hung around for a good 20 minutes before they wandered off next door.
The light was all wrong but so exciting to capture them regardless.
