The Road to Cusco
Today we made our journey from Puno to Cusco. Unfortunately, Damian got the dreaded gastro and was up for the majority of the night, so we were both pretty tired - of course him more than me! Luckily we had an eight hour journey ahead of us, so he had a good chance to sleep and recover.
For this leg of our journey we had an incredibly spirited tour guide name Marietta, whom by the end of the day had hugged and kissed us all at least once, blessed our young souls and proclaimed us as like her own children. She was kind, passionate, and absolutely crazy.
We had a few stops along the way- museums, churches and inca ruins that were all a wonderful prelude to Cusco and the Inca Trail. We drove through amazing mountain scenery and were able to meet a few more alpacas and very happy little boy at our lunch stop, who took a liking to Courtney.
I snapped the photo above of the others wondering through the ruins at our last stop before Cusco. It may look like their positions were planned but I promise they weren't - I just called out "Hey everyone turn around!" and they did, and it worked out very nicely.
We went to an Italian restaurant for dinner which was so so delicious! They had good beer too. Cusco is an incredibly beautiful city, and I am looking forward to our time here!
