Lifelong learning..
My office is in a secondary school. For the last week, the science base - right across from my office - has been the home for a handful of chicks.
Delivered to the eager young scientists and their teachers as eggs, they've kept them warm, seen them hatch, are nurturing them and will tearfully part with them next week.
It's all part of an active learning project called living eggs and is a brilliant way to teach young minds about birth, growing, nurturing and how to care for things.
Ofcourse, it's way more than that. There has been a competition to name the chicks, they've been on YouTube, the students fight over who can hold them next and beg to take them home for the weekend.
School is all about learning for life. In all it's forms. And I tell you, seeing a chick hatch and poke it's inquisitive little beak through the shell to meet a bunch of gob smacked young faces is about as good as it gets ❤️
