Whomped willow

This was one of my favourite trees (blipped all the way back Oct 22, 2012) so I was shocked to see it this morning, butchered to within an inch of its life.

No more willow brushing the surface of the river, wafting in the breeze, it's all gone. I blame the kanuklub*, damn hatchet merchants, afterall it is their jetty that the willow overhung, I have so much more respect for the adjacent rowing club.

* just realised that on the satellite map the willow is so big that it is clear to see...sad.
