Old Friends
I walked to your house, I sat on your porch
I knew you weren't there, but I didn't care
The birds were all singing, your tree was so fragrant
The neighbors may tell you that I was a vagrant
I walked to your house in case you were there
I knocked on your door, to unload my cares
When no answer came, it didn't alarm me
The walk did me good, your gopher, he charmed me
For all of my years, except the first nine
You've been my 'best friend', yep, mine all mine
I feel so at peace knowing this is your home
One wee thing is lacking, you need a porch gnome
Sorry, that line's for the sake of the rhyme,
But I know an old elf who might bring one some time
