The return of #electronicears

I think the first broadcast of Electronic Ears was sometime late June/early July, 2012. I'd been toying with the idea of a radio show for a while and I made contact with a chap called Paul Broadbent who runs Indigo FM, our hyper local radio station. I don't think you can pick it up more than three miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. Unless you listen in over the web, of course!

In all that time, I've only missed three or four shows, I think: a couple of times when I couldn't fit it in and then on the occasions when there was some severe technical difficulty. Recently, though, I've been thinking of giving it up: it takes a lot of work each week, finding and listening to twenty or so songs to get ready for the show and then the time it takes to actually record it. And yet the show has reinvigorated my love of music, got me listening to lots of new stuff, and so it wasn't an easy decision.

Then, three weeks ago, there was a problem with one of the PCs at the studio (which is really just a small stone shed). Consequently, I couldn't broadcast my show - a David Sylvian themed special - that week or, it turned out, the week after. Consequently, I've had a lovely three weeks of listening to David Sylvian, digging out old favourites, rarities and also some neglected beauties. That wouldn't have happened without the focus of the show.

And then tonight I went back and did the broadcast and it was like coming back from holiday: I absolutely loved it. Turned out all I needed was a little break :-)
