Timber!

My first visit to the heronry since the major storms. Happy to report that the colony is flourishing, with some pairs raising young and others, as here, busy nest building. Not sure if this is a late starter or a restart after the ravages of the storms. The colony did not escape unscathed however because I saw at least two bodies of young herons lying in the margins of the lake.
