The Bingley Five-Rise

Trip out to Bingley today, walked up past the 3 rise locks and had a good look at the five rise.

These set of locks raise a boat almost 60ft in a distance of 320ft. They were built in 1774 by the local stonemasons Barnabus Morvil, Jonathan Farrar and William Wild of Bingley and John Sugden from Wilsden. They were designed by John Longbotham.

I'm looking forward to when I navigate them on my own boat.
