Ballet with Scottish Highland Spirits
Yesterday I went to the ballet, finally! It has been such a while since last time I went to theatre and enjoyed a ballet show…
It is a Mathew Bourne's choreography, Highland Fling, recreated fromLa Sylphide.
The Scotland Ballet did a very good job of displaying a Glasgow culture, scenery and an atmosphere of Rock'n'Roll, even though the BGM are still played by classical orchestra.
Dancing swiftly on the tip-toes with many many modern street-dance-reflected moves, the dancers were showing such a youthful energetic Scottish spirits.
The stage setting, costume design, occasional traditional Scottish dances, and even the accent of the announcer at the very beginning of the performance recalled all my memory I spent in the Scotland.
It was a very lovely tragedy, as well as a panorama of the bonnie highland…
