Meet Douglas!
A Douglas C-47B Dakota to be precise!! After all the scenes the past few days I thought that I would give you a change!!
The morning started with temps of 5 degrees C and frost on the roof of the car. We wrapped up warmly and ventured back to the viaduct car park to see if the keas would appear in the dry but windy weather.....no.....still no appearance. We then went to the Arthur's Pass station to wait for the arrival of the train from Christchurch to Greymouth, which we knew was guaranteed to appear.
Many shots later we set out to drive to Christchurch. The weather warmed up to 20+ degrees and gave us beautiful clear blue skies. A coffee and snack, in the sunshine, at the Drover's in Springfield recharged the batteries very nicely...thank you!!
A visit to the Air Force Museum was a must for us, as it wasn't established last time we were here. It is very impressive and a manageable size for visitors, providing a comprehensive view of the history and aircraft of the New Zealand Air Force.
Now checked in to the motel and the hardest decision we have to make is “which restaurant do we choose”? Thai is on offer so that may be the one!!
