Rugby and matrimony

The morning got off to a bad start when Angus "remembered" that 8.15 was the time the team bus left Leadburn not Peebles. We were just coming in to Peebles at the time, so we had a nice dash across to Dunbar to catch up.

The east coast was bright and clear with a cold wind and I joined a small group of Peebles parents on the touchline. Dunbar got off to a good start, but Peebles quickly took control and when I left at half time we were ahead 13 to 8.

Back at Blyth Bridge I put the finishing touches to the network cabling, so that Mike & Paula's wedding ceremony in the tipi could be watched by Craig & Lucy in New Zealand (via Skype).

There was a moment of panic as the bridal Range Rover approached when it was realised that the humanist minister hadn't arrived yet. We sent them round the block & he turned up in the nick of time.

The vows gave way to feasting and speechmaking, which merged seamlessly with toasting, drinking and dancing.

The wind howled outside the tipis, but as long as you were near the fire or the dancing you stayed warm enough.

I'd parked the car at the bottom of the Craigurd track, so when we finally had to head for home we didn't have far to stagger. And fortune favours the brave - all the gates were open.
