The one that didn't get away

Our son was able to join us this weekend as a break from his dissertation preparation. He and I spent a few hours fishing for rainbow trout at a stocked pool after the heavy rain this morning.

Loch Achray is a good metre higher than normal. We've been coming here for over 20 years and have never seen the water at this level before. Fortunately the pool is separate and not affected.

We each caught a fish: his was bigger at 1 3/4 lbs. after years if trying this was his first landed fish so quite a day. We kept trying until dusk but no further luck . But an afternoon in the fresh air and the soft - and hard - rain was wonderful with views to the hills where snow still lies.
