Museum Night Fever
Last night was Museum Night Fever in Brussels - MNF gives people an opportunity to catch more than 24 of the most popular museums in the city for under €10. I was really excited to visit the Musical Instrument Museum because of the subject matter AND because it's based in a really cool Art Nouveau building. The interior has an industrial feel to it thanks to the exposed girded steel frame. I suspect it's a great place to go during the day as it gets a lot of light - other than the steel frame, it's basically just glass. Very impressive for a building constructed in 1899, though I imagine the heating bill would have been immense!
Really glad we endured the long queue to visit as it was well worth it. The highlight was an improvised concert, and we also enjoyed a saxophone exhibition which commemorated the 200th anniversary of the inventor of the sax - Adolphe Sax. Incidentally, he was Belgian!
