the True Way of the Things
I'd always thought the point of having an option to accept or rebuff meeting-invitations was that it permitted recipients of invitations to choose between acceptance or declination; that there was an element of free will to be exercised. I was mightily surprised to discover that this is merely a legacy facility from the early days of electronic calendar facilities which has not yet been de-programmed by in-house software development. Hopefully this implied-lack-of-choice goes both ways and I shall be able to force my boss to attend pointless booked things whenever I choose to schedule him in. Perhaps he would like his lunchtimes for the next three months occupying with unavoidable commitments, preferably in a distant building on the way to which he would stand a good chance of getting lost seeing as he's still unaccustomed to Edinburgh and has a portable telephone far too shite to install Google Maps on to rescue him from such situations.
