Iceberg Rose

Another frosty morning. It's not surprising that the Iceberg rose is wearing it's winter colours. By now the flowers should be pure white.

This morning I found one of the blackbird chicks dead on the edge of the road outside my gate. It had been hit, but not run over. I sadly carried it in and buried it in the garden. These things happen, of course, but I couldn't watch them grow and develop without getting emotionally involved.

Today's nor'wester is even more rugged than yesterday's southerly, but it is not cold. The nests in the cabbage tree are holding fast.
