The Little Lyle Files

U is for Upgraded

This is the farewell photo of our trusty caravan, that has been our home on a number of very enjoyable holidays over the past four years. We have traded it in for a new caravan today as we were outgrowing this one and were getting frustrated by the choice of putting the kids beds up and down daily or losing out valuable seating space. The new one has fixed bunks for the kids, so we don’t have to do that and gives us more usable space, which is essential when the weather isn’t great.

The problem is of course that, a bigger caravan means that the awning we own doesn’t fit the new one so there is another cost there but, apart from that, I can’t think of any downside to the new caravan (which will undoubtedly feature in future blips but I didn’t manage to get a decent photo today as we were on a tight timeline with other commitments).

What took me by surprise today was that I got a rush of emotion as I emptied out this caravan to transfer our stuff to the new one. Can you believe that? I got emotional over a tin box. Bear in mind my point above though, I was actually having a trip down memory lane and the emotion was the happy feelings that this tin box gives me. The new tin box has a lot to live up to, believe me: I can’t wait to get the chance to fall in love with it as I did this one.
