The beauty of wood
I have to admit this is a bit of an emergency blip although it does have a link to tomorrow...
Today I was working from home. The painter was here all day. Decorating mostly done now. Just a few bits of the woodwork to second coat on Monday. Somwhow I never got round to thinking about a blip. I bring you a newly painted yellow wall? Hmm. Could be a bit boring.
I wandered round the house hoping for inspiration and decided to blip the slice of chestnut that hangs on my kitchen wall over the sink.
It's a piece of found art. I was loading logs that had been cut from branches of the chestnut trees in the grounds of our Buddhist Centre in Taplow (where I will be spending the day tomorrow) when I noticed this butterfly pattern in one of them. The gardener kindly sliced off the top of the log for me with a chainsaw so that I could bring it home. After that we planed and waxed it before hanging it on the wall.
