The Biltmore House

The Biltmore House built by George Vanderbilt as a mountain retreat is the largest house in America and sits on 8,000 acres. The original estate had much larger land holdings. This shot is from the Blue Ridge Parkway outside Asheville, NC. The house is so large it can be seen easily from an Interstate exit that is 13 miles from the exit for the house. It is open daily for tours. There are 7 restaurants, and places for lodging on the property. It is about 10 miles from where we are visiting our son and family.
