Trauma

We did trauma simulation with the fifth years today. One of our Consultant's son's friends acted the part of a builder who had fallen from scaffolding on the second storey of the building. We used makeup to create wounds on him and even drew on his deviated trachea! The pre-hospital trauma ran outside and then the casualty was transported inside where his care was handed over to hospital staff (four other students).

I enjoyed work so much that it didn't really feel like work at all today. I hope that the things the students learnt will help them as doctors of the very-near future.
