Tea at the Top
Beautiful blue skies for our WI walk this morning. We went for the slightly more sedate option of a walk along the Leeds Liverpool canal as far as Bingley Five Rise Locks. which is the steepest lock staircase in Britain, is the most spectacular feature of the Leeds and Liverpool canal. The locks open directly from one to another, with the top gate of one forming the bottom gate for the next. The Grade 1 listed structure was opened in 1774 and has a total fall of 60 feet.
At the top is a café where Hazel treated us to tea and cake in celebration of her son's recent job offer. It was just warm enough to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy the view.
The rain held off until we were almost home, time for a bit of shopping before I picked the kids up from school. Finally we're at the end of a long half term and looking forward to a week off and time with grandparents.
